Double Chain Ring Tutorial

This tutorial is on how to make these really simple and cute rings. You will need to be able to make the double chain knot (here is my tutorial on it braceletsfromnl.blogspot.ca/2013/01/double-chain-knot-tutorial.html)

Supplies
String, glue and scissors

Step 1
Make the double chain knot until it is long enough to fit around you finger.
Do not tie an overhand knot at the end!

Step 2
Wrap your bracelet around your finger so that it is shaped like a circle. Take the stings at the end of your bracelet and tie a knot around the knot at the top of your bracelet.

Step 3
Cut the excess string as close to the knot as possible.

Step 4
Apply some glue around the knot so it stays. Let the glue drie and you are ready to wear your new ring!

Double Chain Knot Tutorial

This bracelet is really cute and looks great if you use colors that really contrast each other. It also looks great with a larger bracelet.

Supplies
Two colors of embroidery floss(three of each color)
I'll be using red and blue for this tutorial.

Step 1
Tie an overhand knot at the top(leave enough string so you can tie the bracelet!) and set your strings up so that the red strings are in a group and the blue strings are in a group. The red strings need to be on the left and the blue strings on the right.

Step 2
Take your red strings and tie a single fk over the blue strings.(make sure you only make half the knot)

Step 3
Take you blue strings and tie a single bk over the red strings.(make sure you only make half the knot.)

Step 4
Continue steps 2 and 3 until your bracelet is the right legnth.

Step 5
Tie an overhand at the end and you are done!

note: as you tie this bracelet, the red strings should always remain on the left and the blue strings always on the right. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Chinese staircase

Here is the tutorial on the Chinese staircase.

Supplies
Six pieces of string(two of each color, three of each color or six different colors) something to hold your bracelet down (examples: clipboard, tape, safety pin.)

Step 1
Cut all your string about your arm length and tie an overhand knot at the top. (Leave enough string before the knot so you can tie the bracelet.)

Step 2
Take one string and make a forward knot around all the other strings.

Step 3
Repeat step 2 ten to fifteen times. Put the string back into the group.

Step 4
Take a different color of string and repeat steps 2&3

Step 5
Continue steps 2-4 until your bracelet is the length you need it to be. Tie an overhand knot at the end.

Now you have made the Chinese staircase! I hope this tutorial explained to you how to make a Chinese staircase!

ALTERNATE WAY
You can also make a Chinese staircase with just using one color for the entire bracelet.

Supplies
Six pieces of embroidery floss, five of one color and one of another. The five pieces won't be seen (I'll be using black for these) and the one of the color(blue for me) should be extra long.

Step 1
Cut your strings and tie an overhand knot at the top.

Step 2
Take you long string(blue) and make a forward knot.

Step 3
Continue making forward knots until your bracelet is the desired length. You won't make any knots with the other strings (black) for this version. Just with the blue string.

Knots of a bracelet

For friendship bracelets, you need to know the four knots used in a friendship bracelet. You ALWAYS have to tie TWO of the knots to make a complete knot.
• Forward knot (fk)

• Backward knot (bk)

• Forward/backward knot
Just do steps 1-4 of the fk and then steps 1-4 of the bk to make this knot!
• Backward/forward knot.
Just do steps 1-4 of the bk and then steps 1-4 of the fk to make this knot!

What are friendship bracelets?

Friendship bracelets are bracelets that are made with string. They can come in a variety of widths, patterns, and color combinations that look great with any outfit! These bracelets are really fun to make and I would encourage anybody to try and make one.
